How to Host Your First Poshmark Party Like A Boss!

So you applied to be a Poshmark Party Host and you FINALLY received an email asking if a specific date works for you! I am assuming that you have responded with an enthusiastic YES and now you are IN! Now what?

I have had the privilege to host two Poshmark Parties! There are many ways to go about hosting a Poshmark party, but I want to share an in depth guide to...

Hosting a Poshmark Party Like A BOSS!

I am writing this assuming that you already know the basic terminology for Poshmark. Feel free to comment below with any questions!

Step 1: Create a New Listing for your future Party!

This is simple! Create a Listing with an eye-catching graphic to tell everyone that you will be hosting a Poshmark Party! (I use an app called Pic Collage to create amazing Listings!) Include the date and let people know that the theme is TBD (To Be Determined).

Ask people to Like, Share, and Tag their friends on that listing to help you celebrate!
I price my Listing super high (Like $999,999) so that I can periodically drop the price and make it visible in the "Just Reduced" listings.

After you find out the theme you can change the title and contents of the listing to announce the Party category!

Expect lots of people to comment, share, and tag their friends. You do not have to choose a host pick from everyone that interacts with your listing, but it will provide you with plenty of closets to browse!

This is my listing after I announced the party theme!

I am so excited to announce that I will be hosting my first Posh Party on 7/01 @ 12pm PST (3pm EST)! πŸŽ‰ "Best In Swim!" is the theme! ❤Like❤ this listing for updates! Comment if you want me to check out your closet! I am on the hunt for Host Picks! Give me all the amazing summer swimwear! Please like, tag, share, and help me celebrate! 🍾

Step 2: Interact with the other people co-hosting your party

About a week before the party date you will receive an email with the theme of your party! This email will also tell you who is co-hosting the party with you.

Tag the other co-hosts in a comment under your party listing and say something like this...

millennial_mom @swirlygurl @thriftiehippie @Getinjiggywidit @dgraham432 @erica042175 I'm so excited to Co-host with you all!
Jun 24 02:44PM

This is just a nice way to contact the other co-hosts. It also lets all the people who are interacting with your Party Listing know who else is hosting this party.

Go to each of your co-hosts Poshmark closets and follow them. See if they have posted a party listing and Like, Follow, Comment, and Share their listings too! The more "Buzz" about your party the more traffic it will bring.

Step 3: Understand how Hosting a Poshmark Party works!

Basically You are asked to select 50-100 (I suggest choosing 100!)  listings to be featured in a special section in the party, the Host Picks Show Room. I encourage you to read all the information that is provided in the emails that Poshmark sends to you.

In a nutshell it is pretty simple! On the date and time of your party you simply SHARE the listings you select to the party and it is automatically saved to the Host Pick Showroom. The listings you share are called your "Host Picks" and the owner of the listing can now brag to everyone that you chose their item for this honor!

Step 4: Decide How You are Going to Organize Your Host Picks.

Of the many ways to organize my Host Picks, I chose toπŸ’“ LIKE all the listings. (Just Hit the πŸ’“icon) This saves them to your "My Likes" section and makes it super easy to access them when the party begins.

I start by liking my personal listings that I want to share to the party and I commit to only Liking my host picks until the party is over.
(You don't want to include any random Likes in between your Host Pick Likes)

From your "My Likes" section you can scroll through the listings and quickly see how many you have and if any of them have been sold. (If an item is sold you just unlike it and choose another listing, you cannot share listings that are not available for purchase. If this happens don't stress! It is a normal thing.)

The only downside to doing it this way is that some people will send you offers for those listings. You can ignore or decline them. They will just show up on your "Newsfeed".

Step 5: Start browsing for your Host Picks!

I start looking for my Host Picks 2 days before the party starts.

You are allowed to share 5-10 of your own listings...

Share all 10 of your allotted Listings from your own closet to the Host Pick Showroom!

I have heard some people say that they don't post all ten because they don't want to be selfish or they want to give more people more opportunities for host picks.
While this is honorable, sharing your own listings will help boost traffic to your closet. Traffic is something we are all after and could potentially end in a sale, which is the ultimate goal!

Next focus on Host Picks from New closets. Poshmark recommends that 25% of your picks are from new Poshers. I use my cellphone for all Poshmark things, so I just go to my feed to find new listings and new closets. You can always click on the person's user name and go to their "About" section to view when they joined Poshmark.

After you have taken care of the obligatory picks, browse for the rest!

Make sure your choices not only coincide with the party theme, but are also your style and comply with Poshmark Guidelines

Do it at your leisure. It is supposed to be fun, not stressful! You can leave a few picks for the day of the party if you want to choose an item that is being shared to the party in real time.

Be prepared to choose another listing if the ones you have saved are SOLD, NOT FOR SALE (usually because someone puts their closet on vacation), or ANOTHER HOST CHOOSES THE SAME LISTING. These are all typical happenings, don't let it trip you up!

I would suggest not telling people you are considering their item for a host pick, unless you are certain you are going to stick with that choice. Leave yourself some room to change your mind, if you desire, when the party starts. Telling someone you chose their item before the party is not against the rules, it just adds pressure that isn't really needed.
You can choose what is the best for you as far as communicating this with people. It is your business after all!

Step 6: The Party is about to start... Pour yourself a drink and get comfy!

Wine, Coffee, Tea... whatever you desire to treat yourself! Get comfortable and settle in somewhere you can be for the next hour or so! Sometimes it is fun to play it up and enjoy your hosting moment!

Step 7: Party Time! Create a Cute Comment To Put On Your Host Pick Listings.

You have your Host Picks saved and the Party Has started!!!
Now you can create a cute comment to post under the listings you chose!
Usually these type of announcement comments consist of LOTS of emojis or quotes. They also say "I choose your listing as a Host Pick for (insert Name of Party)".

I usually share my closet's listings to the party first and then test my comment underneath my listing. That way if it looks funny, I can adjust it. I don't mind if I mess up a couple comments on my own listings so that it can look awesome on everyone elses listings.

Here is an example from my Best In Swim Party...

I highlight my good comment and "copy" it so that I can easily post it in the comments of all my Host Pick Listings.

I Share a listing, Post the comment underneath, share the next listing, Post the comment underneath, etc...

This isn't something you have to do, just something fun! It also grabs the attention of the person that owns that listing and lets them know that their item has been chosen!

If you follow my steps, come party day, it will only actually take you 30-45 min to share all of your host picks to the party, assuming that you do all 100!

You can spend the rest of your hosting time sharing listings and interacting with other Poshers.

Somethings to expect if you follow my steps... You will get lots of what some people call "SPAM". They are referring to people tagging long lists of people to your posts, people asking for you to pick their items for Host Picks, People adding your "Party Listing" or other items to bundles and then tagging you in them, etc...

Believe me, this kind of thing will only last a short amount of time.

The more hits, views, and traffic your closet gets the better!

If you can put up with this for a little while, you will be ok! I promise! You will have more personal interactions with people than usual and it is a good feeling having people seeking you out! You will also get hundreds of new followers the day of your party!

Now that I have let you in on my Poshmark Partying... Go and Have Fun!
